Research & Development Intern (Summer 2025)

The Research & Development Intern will participate in a variety of day-to-day projects that will assist our Research & Development team and report directly to the Vice President, Research and Development.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Research & Development team with the preparation, development and testing of novel and existing products
  • Work with staff to organize, prioritize and complete sample requests received from the sales team
  • Ensure that all documentation (Label, Safety Data Sheet, Technical Bulletin, etc.) is available for inclusion with sample shipments
  • Organize raw material sample stocks from suppliers, identifying expired and discontinued laboratory raw materials for disposal
  • Document, interpret and accurately record product formulations for inclusion in laboratory archives
  • Participate in collaborative meetings to obtain a wider perspective on the development process of polyurethane adhesives, elastomers and foam systems
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Prior laboratory experience in general chemistry and/or organic chemistry preferred
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficient in technology and equipment used in environmental inspections
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software

Physical Requirements:

  • Physically able to conduct inspections and carry equipment used for inspections.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.

Education and Experience:

  • Current student in a four-year degree program (Engineering, Data Science, Chemistry, Product Design, or equivalent) OR Current student in a graduate-level program (Optometry, Chemistry, Engineering, Data Science, Product Design, or equivalent).
  • This is paid internship $22-$24/hour
