Account Manager — Expansion Joint Division

Location: Mechanicville, NY 

Position Summary: Seeking a results-driven Account Manager to grow sales of expansion joints and related bridge-construction products. The role combines technical product knowledge, relationship building with contractors, engineers and distributors, and project-driven sales to win specification and supply opportunities on bridge and infrastructure projects. 

Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities with general contractors, and distributors 
  • Manage full sales cycle: lead generation, technical needs assessment, proposal development, pricing, negotiation, and order close 
  • Work with engineering and product teams to specify appropriate expansion joint systems for project requirements 
  • Prepare and present technical proposals and product demonstrations to clients and design teams 
  • Respond to RFIs/RFPs, produce accurate take-offs, and develop competitive bids and commercial terms, including estimating from contract drawings to prepare bids 
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with engineers, architects, contractors, procurement leads, and distributors 
  • Track project pipelines and forecast sales; meet or exceed monthly/quarterly/yearly targets 
  • Support project handover by coordinating with customer service and production teams to ensure timely delivery and correct installation guidance 
  • Keep current on bridge construction trends, codes, standards (AASHTO, Eurocodes, etc.), and competitor activity; feed market intelligence back to product and marketing teams 
  • Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and client meetings 

Required Qualifications: 

  • 3–7 years of B2B sales experience in civil/infrastructure, bridge construction, specialty construction products, or engineered sealing/expansion systems 
  • Proven track record of selling to contractors, design firms, DOTs, or infrastructure owners
  • Minimum AAS degree in Construction Technology 
  • Strong technical aptitude; ability to understand and explain product performance, specifications, and installation methods
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to read construction drawings and specifications
  • Self-motivated, organized, and comfortable with frequent travel to project sites and client offices 
  • Valid driver’s license 

Preferred: 

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or related field 
  • Existing relationships with bridge contractors, consulting engineers, and DOT procurement personnel 
  • Experience with estimating software and CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) 
  • Familiarity with relevant standards and testing protocols for expansion joints and bearings
  • Knowledge of resinous flooring systems for commercial and industrial applications

  • Sales revenue and margin attainment 
  • New client accounts and repeat business
  • Pipeline conversion rate and bid win rate 
  • Forecast accuracy and timely order processing 
  • Customer satisfaction and on-time delivery metrics
